Freezer cold, fridge warm
Frost on the freezer back wall means the defrost cycle has stopped. No frost means a stuck damper or a stopped evaporator fan. Both are quick, inexpensive fixes.
Both sides warm
Compressor humming and hot points to the start relay or overload. Silent with the lights on points to the control board. We test before we quote.
Ice maker not making ice
Whirlpool’s modular ice makers are reliable, but the fill valve, the optics sensor on side-by-sides, and the in-door bin auger all fail.
Water under the crisper drawers, or a dead dispenser
A clogged defrost drain (some models also have a drain heater that fails), or a filter, inlet valve, or frozen line in the door.

How do I reset a Whirlpool refrigerator?
Unplug it for five minutes and plug it back in. If it cools normally afterward, the board tripped on a power event. If the problem returns within days, book a diagnostic.
Why is there frost on the back wall of my Whirlpool freezer?
The defrost cycle has stopped running. The heater, thermostat, or control has failed and the evaporator is icing over. It is a common, inexpensive repair.
Are Maytag and Amana repairs the same as Whirlpool?
