Commercial Refrigeration Repair in Northern Virginia
When a walk-in climbs past 41°F, you are on a clock the health department set for you. Walk-ins, reach-ins, prep tables, and display cases — same-day commercial dispatch built around protecting your inventory, at a flat rate you approve first.
Built for operators
Commercial service is different from a house call.
Larger systems, remote compressors, commercial controls — and downtime measured in product, not inconvenience. We schedule around your service hours: early morning before open and mid-afternoon between rushes are the slots we hold for restaurants. Every visit ends with a written finding, arrival and departure temperatures, and a recommendation you can hand to your manager or landlord.
- Flat-rate quote after diagnosis. No hourly meter running while we wait on a part.
- Temporary solutions when a part is out. We can often keep a unit limping safely until the compressor or coil arrives.
- Preventive coil cleaning. Most commercial failures start with a condenser packed with kitchen grease. Quarterly cleaning is the cheapest repair we sell.
- Invoices that work for accounting. Itemized, with equipment serial numbers.

What we service
Walk-ins, reach-ins, prep tables, and display cases.

True, Turbo Air, Beverage-Air, Continental, Traulsen, Delfield, and similar one- to three-door units.
Prep tables and undercounter units
Sandwich and pizza prep rails that will not hold 41°F on the pans, and undercounter units with blocked condensers.
Display and merchandiser cases
Open-air, glass-door, deli, and bakery cases where lighting, fans, and defrost all share one control circuit.
Back-bar and beverage coolers
Bars and cafes where the unit runs 24/7 in a warm, greasy room.
Commercial ice machines
Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, Scotsman, and Ice-O-Matic have their own page: ice machine repair.
The most urgent call
Walk-in cooler repair: what fails and how we triage it.
| What you see | Likely cause | How fast it needs attention |
|---|---|---|
| Box slowly warming, evaporator coil coated in ice | Defrost failure (timer, heater, termination switch) or a door left ajar | Same day. Product is safe for hours if the door stays shut. |
| Box warm, condensing unit outside silent | Tripped breaker, failed contactor, or compressor | Immediate. No refrigeration at all. |
| Box warm, condensing unit running nonstop | Low refrigerant charge or a blocked condenser coil | Same day. It will keep losing ground. |
| Frost on the suction line, water on the floor | Drain line frozen or evaporator fan failed | Same day. Slip hazard plus temperature risk. |
| Door will not seal or latch | Gasket, hinge cam, or closer worn out | Within a day or two. Wasted energy and frost buildup. |
Virginia’s food code requires cold holding at 41°F or below. If a walk-in is above that, log the time and move product to a working unit while you wait for us. For an emergency, call rather than book online.

Good to know
Commercial refrigeration questions.
We service True, Turbo Air, Beverage-Air, Continental, Traulsen, Delfield, Hoshizaki, Kolpak, Norlake, and American Panel walk-in boxes with Copeland, Tecumseh, and Heatcraft condensing units. If your unit has a data plate, we can work on it. Restaurants, cafes, delis, convenience stores, and small grocers in Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Woodbridge, Manassas, and across Loudoun and Prince William counties. Residential refrigerators start on the services page.
How fast can you get to a walk-in that is warming up?
Commercial no-cooling calls go to the front of the schedule. In most of Fairfax, Arlington, and Alexandria that means the same day, often within a few hours. Call rather than book online for an emergency.
Do you repair the condensing unit on the roof?
Yes. Remote condensing units for walk-ins are part of the same system. We service contactors, fan motors, compressors, and refrigerant charge on rooftop and ground-mounted units.
Why does my reach-in keep tripping the breaker?
Usually a compressor drawing locked-rotor amps because the condenser is clogged with grease, or a failing start component. Occasionally it is a shorted evaporator fan or defrost heater. We meter it rather than guess.
Can you set up a maintenance schedule?
Yes. Quarterly condenser cleaning, gasket inspection, and temperature verification across all your units, on a fixed price. It is the single best way to avoid an emergency call.
Do you handle refrigerant on commercial systems?
Yes. Our technicians are EPA Section 608 certified, and we recover, evacuate, and recharge R-404A, R-134a, R-448A, and R-290 systems with logged weights.
